#OHIO HOMEBREW UPDATE#

Mitch McGreal gave the update on the project. It was great to see several new faces (potential new homebrewers) in the crowd and also that Bruce and Bryan spent the day brewing a batch along with everyone else. The Learn to Homebrew Day event at Nocterra Brewing was on November 7th. The club had looked at possibly having an in-person meeting for December, but the board decided that in the current environment it wouldn’t be possible, so we’ll hold it again via Zoom. Thanks to all the members (including new members) who came out for last night’s club meeting. This could be some great practice for anyone who is interested in getting BJCP certified. If you are interested in helping out judging please register here: you have a great rest of September and look forward to seeing you all at Edisons Brewery for our next meeting! November Meeting Recap

We are providing a $15 gift card at Bud Dairy Hall to every judge as a thank you! We recommend BJCP but you do not need to be BJCP certified to help out with this event. If you can show some love to Zachrich by purchasing hops or just following them on FB or instagram any little thing we can do to help them would be a great gesture from our members. We are also in need of judges for Beer for Boobs on October 24th. While Steve was unable to make it because of a delayed plane, we were still able to get a tour from the brewer on duty and he even spent time after the tour answering questions from our members. We announced that Ron will be vacating his board Membership position due to some personal issues and that Mitchell McGreal will be taking over his position. We then talked about the hospitality that Zachrich provided us over the summer, allowing us to head over to their hop farm and brew 40gallons of beer using around 10pounds of their wet hops! We had a tasting event at Jason’s house in August, and we then distributed what was left of the beer to the club members in attendance. Huge thanks goes out to Brew Dog for allowing us to come out and receive a tour of their brewing facilities. It was great seeing everyone who was able to attend.

Hope to see folks out at about this summer and SODZ will be back to full time meetings starting the third Monday in September!įirst and foremost thank you to everyone who showed up! This was one of the largest gatherings we’ve had in quite some time and we hope everyone enjoyed themselves! The meeting started off with Eric recapping the month that was. Tent camping on-premise for Saturday night is an option. Then in the afternoon Zachrich is hosting their open house for the Hop Growers Guild and we are invited to stay and enjoy their live music and food truck. You can plan to come brew or just hang out. The summer picnic this year will once again be at Zachrich Hop Yard in Mechanicsburg, Ohio on Saturday June 22nd. She’ll have them at our summer picnic in a few weeks! They’ll also be available at meetings in the fall. Our new SODZ shirts have come in! If you ordered a shirt (or a few!) you can coordinate pick up with Vice President Sandy Hugill at some point this year. It was well attended and we always like getting together with our friends from DOH and HOPS!Īs the June meeting is casual, there was no club competition, but we did have a few announcements: Thanks to everyone who made it up to Restoration Brewworx in Delaware for our “unofficial” June gathering last month.
